ORLANDO, Fla. - Since Mel Gibson released the movie, "The Passion of the Christ," there has been more interest in faith based films.

Recent faith based movies like "Facing the giants and Fireproof," got the attention of Hollywood and where great success.

The soon to be released heart warming movie, "Letters to God," is looking like another faith based movie hit.

On Thursday Dec. 3, David Nixon, local director and producer gave a presentation in Valencia, West Campus.

In his presentation he talked about his upcoming movie, "Letters to God," which is going to be release on April 9, 2010.

"Letters to God" is based on a true strory about an eight year old boy, who is suffering from cancer but even with this obstacle in his life he still has the drive to write letters to God asking him to help the people around him. The idea of the movie came from a true story that the father wrote about his son after he died.

"This movie was made because cancer touches everybody," said Nixon, "we did it to put out a ray of hope."

The father was present during the whole filming of the movie in Winter Gardens, Florida.

"Filming these types of movies is not overwhelming but it is heartwarming," said Nixon.

David Nixon is from Sydney, Australia and he has a movie studios in Orlando, Florida. He has produced two feature films, "Facing the Giants" and "Fireproof". He has also produced commercials for Subway restaurants and Walt Disney Resorts.
